The Colour Pink

The Colour Pink.

Pink is for the loving, the tender, the affectionate. Pink is for lovers. It is for the passionate too.

Pink is for baby girls, for baby boys whose mothers think they look cute, for girls who don't want to grow up or are growing up too fast, for embarrassed boys, for mature ladies who use shades of pink to show their angel or succubus personas, for all that is feminine, for women, girls, ladies, queens, princesses, ladettes, tomboys, and for men who don't give a f***.

Pink is when the passion of red meets the purity of white, pink is self-worth, beauty, good health and life. Pink is romantic, intimate, comforting, nurturing.

Pink is for winter mittens, for clubbing heels, for scarves, for skirts, dresses, and hairbands. Pink is for roses, lips, nails, smart shirts, funky ties, Pink Lady apples, rose quartz crystals, for the Hammersmith and City line.

Pink is for everything strawberry, raspberry or cherry flavoured: Yeo Valley yoghurts, Carte D'or ice creams, Extra chewing gum, Chupa Chups lollipops, Starburst, Pocky, milkshakes,  the pink Haribo milk bottles, Yazoo, Nesquik.

Pink is for the cute, the innocent, the naïve, the adorable, the Kawaii. Pink is for Shōjo manga.

Pink is for spring, for love, for flamingos, for cotton candy, for marshmallows, for pigs, for Percy Pig and Reversy Percy sweets, for Peppa Pig, for numb fingers, for blushing rosy cheeks, for Kello Kitty, for dawn and dusk, for the Pink Panther, for doodle hearts and flowers and the gel pens they're drawn with, for the Pink Power Ranger, for seashells, for Amy Rose the hedgehog, for ribbons, for Princess Peach.

Pink is for BARBIE. (But... more for Princess Peach.)

Pink is for P!nk, Mary Kay's Pink Cadillac, Breast Cancer, Nicki Minaj and Pink Friday, for Beyonce's Check On It video, for Mean Girls, leotards and tutus, for the organs inside of us all, for the tongues of cats and dogs.

Pink is for Rosé, for diluted Ribena-from-concentrate, for Turkish Delight, for icing on birthday cakes, for raw fish - for the tender salmon and prawns - for beetroot stains on a plate (purple, really), for the Strawberry Dream fondant-filled chocolate in a box of Cadbury's Roses - likewise, for the Vanilla Fudge in a box of Quality Street, for Walkers Prawn Cocktail crisps, for sprinkles and Hundreds & Thousands on cookies and cupcakes.

Pink, disguised as magenta, fuchsia, cerise, coral , weak reds and feeble purples.

Pink, embellished as baby pink, hot pink, bright pink, neon pink, dark pink, light pink, pastel pink, cherry blossom pink, lavender pink, queen pink, pale pink, deep pink.

This list is ever expanding.

May I introduce Queen Of Pink, mascot and Sovereign of our little haven here. I call her Jade Rose.

Whoever you are, wherever you have come from, whatever your issues or troubles are, leave it at the door. You do not have to pretend to be anything here, just be open-minded. Pink can be whatever you want it to be, and is only childish or girly if you allow it to be.

Love pink or hate pink, pink appears in every part of our life, so pink up, pink on, and get PINK'd.
